Steiner, Alfred L., 85, retired St. Joseph Hospital maintenance mechanic, died Tuesday, February 27, 2007. Rosary 7:00 P.M., Friday, March 2, Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Funeral Mass 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 3, Church of the Magdalen. Alfred was a member of Midwestern Polka Club, Harvest House Singers, Magdalen Choir, RSES-Refrigeration Service Engineers Society and the Moose Club. He was an avid fisherman. Preceded in death by brothers, Ralph, Louis and Francis and sisters, Mildred Williams, Emily Scott, Helen Rudolph and Beatrice Norris. Survivors: wife, Geraldine M. (Lauer) Steiner; son, Dwight Steiner (Anne) of Superior, CO; brother, Eugene Steiner (Beryl) of Hillsboro, KS; sisters, Alice Fruits of Stockton, CA, Bernice McDowell of Hillsboro, KS, Evelyn Hickerson of Wichita, Loretta Sroufe of Garden Plain, KS and Henrietta Thomas of Wichita; grandchildren, Molly and Maren Steiner. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Sisters of St. Joseph “Dear Neighbor” Ministries, 3700 E. Lincoln, Wichita, KS, 67218 and Church of the Magdalen, 12626 E. 21st, Wichita, KS, 67206.

Dwight,after all these years how could I forget one of my favorite second grade students and his family of All Saints parish.
My dear Gerry–know that you and yours are in my prayers. So sorry to see this, but can also remember all the beautiful times that ‘Papa Al’ spent with his adopted nurses. He probably is telling God a few good jokes!! Here is remembering the beauty, not the pain. May God keep you in his loving arms. Love Lois
