Alice Georgine (Weltz) Andra, passed away at the age of 94 on August 16, 2025 in Wichita, Kansas. Alice was born on September 13, 1930 in Hays, Kansas to Alois and Odelia Weltz, moving to Goodland, Kansas where she spent her early years as a popular student. Alice was active in every school activity including drama, band and twirling. The flute she played was eventually given as a precious heirloom to her granddaughter Anna, who followed in her footsteps as a college band member and first chair.

Alice attended Kansas State University where she majored in Dietetics. She met her husband Larry at KSU and soon joined him in his first post as an Air Force officer in Guam, Marianas Islands. Her time on the tropical island as a new bride and mother remained one of her favorite memories. Following their return to Kansas, Alice supported her husband during law school and in his eventual private practice in Wichita. She loved to travel and accompanied Larry in his many trips throughout the United States, Mexico, and Europe in a Model A Ford.

Her focus was always on her family and was known as a gracious hostess, accomplished cook, and tireless volunteer. She was a beloved Brownie, Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader whose scouts remember her as great fun. Alice also drove daily to swim practice for her son John and daughter Susan, introduced her daughter Jeanne to art and architecture, and served on the boards of Delta Rho and the legacy organization Attorney’s Wives for many years. Eventually she worked with Donna Beard real estate, quickly becoming a top agent and recognized for her accomplishments.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Andra; sister, Irene Middleton; brother, Cletus Weltz; and parents, Alois and Odelia Weltz. She is survived by her brother, Robert Weltz; daughter, Jeanne (Andra) Cranford; son, John Andra all of Wichita; daughter, Susan (Andra) Johnson and her husband Chip Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida, and their children, Alan and Charles, Anna Collard and her husband, Sean Collard.

  1. I had the pleasure of meeting Alice on a visit to Wichita with my dear friend and her daughter Jeanne a few years back. She was so elegant and lovely. Jeanne would share some or our adventures with her over the years which she always enjoyed. Jeanne also shared photos which I would share with friends and family because it was an inspiration to see someone age so beautifully. May she rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with her and the family.
