Alice Weller Fryer, 93, died Thursday, February 25, 2016. Graveside Service will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Greenhill Cemetery, Muskogee, OK. Alice Weller Fryer was born October 17, 1922 to Dr. Samuel Jacob Fryer and Minnie Deering Weller Frye in Muskogee, OK. She graduated from Muskogee High School. She attended junior college in Muskogee and then transferred to the University of Oklahoma where she graduated with a degree in chemistry and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. In her professional life, Alice was a medical lab technician in Oklahoma City at Childrens Hospital, in research at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation and Veterans Hospital. For many years Alice was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Oklahoma City, and Young Republicans. In 1962 Alice ran for Commissioner of Charities and Corrections in Oklahoma. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lora May Slagter; her brother, Dr. Samuel Richard Fryer; and nephews, Arthur John Slagter, III, and Lt. Charles Wigger Fryer. Alice is survived by her nephew, Samuel Richard Fryer, Jr. (Carol) of Colleyville, TX; niece, Susan Henning Boots (James) of Wichita, KS; numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces.
