Amy Becker

January 1, 1950 ~ January 25, 2020
I cant believe that out of all the women in the world, God chose me to be Amys mom and David to be her daddy.
Amy Marie Becker was born in Wichita, KS, October 11,1974. Amy was a voracious reader. She loved the “Little House on the Prairie” series of books that Grandma Jessie shared with her. Her room was decorated with Holly Hobbie wallpaper. Her favorite toys were Cabbage Patch dolls that Aunt Bonnie stood in line for hours to buy for her.
Amy graduated from Northwest High School in 1993. She chose to attend Kansas State University. While at K-State, she became an AmeriCorps volunteer. After finishing her volunteer commitment, she came back to Wichita to complete her education at WSU. While attending college, she went back to work at Dillons part-time. It was at Dillons where she met her handsome prince — Josh Becker.
After graduating from WSU in 1998, Amy began her work career at TECU and eventually went to work at Credit Union of America. She started as a teller and progressed to a position as a Compliance and Audit Officer.
Josh proposed to Amy Christmas, 1999. They were married at Prairie Pines, September 23, 2000.
They were blessed with four smart, talented, beautiful children: Clay 17, Ivy 14, Annie 12, and Griffin 10.
Family was so important to Amy and Josh. They have tried to raise their children to be good citizens and as a family participated in many volunteer activities. Amy was room mother, Girl Scout leader and cookie mom. They are active members of Pathway Church. Josh has been very involved in Cub and Boy scouts too. They were a busy family.
In August 2016 Amy was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. IBC is a very rare and aggressive breast cancer.
Amy participated in several clinical trials and took many trips to MD Anderson in Houston. We are thankful Josh was able to travel with her to Houston to support her through testing and treatment.
Amy never wanted to have a pity party or be the “cancer girl”. She and Josh worked hard to keep things normal for the kids. Amy continued to work and be active in the kids school and after-school activities.
In December Amys health began to decline rapidly. The decision was made to discontinue chemo just last week. She began Hospice Thursday and passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning, January 25.
Amy had a strong faith. I am comforted by the fact that she is in heaven with our friends and family who have gone before us to welcome her home.
Amy was a witness to many people. She never gave up. She had a wonderful attitude and a beautiful smile that lit up the room. Now, when I look at the sky, along with the stars, Ill see her smile shining through.
Amy is survived by her parents David and Janet Haines, her husband Josh, their children Clay, Ivy, Annie and Griffin, her parents-in-law Cherise and Larry Becker, Joshs brothers and sister-in-law Wes & Joanna, Jerad, her brother Casey and grandmother Jessie Swinson.
Amys memorial service will be 2 p.m., Friday January 31, at Pathway Church, Westlink Campus.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Becker Childrens Education Fund account 166656, c/o Credit Union of America, 711 W. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67213 or any Credit Union of America location. Arrangements by Downing & Lahey Mortuary West.
Special thanks to Credit Union of America and Howerton+White for the love and compassion you have shown Amy and Josh. You all are just amazing people!! God Bless you all.

The positive spirit you presented while battling health issues for over 3 years was amazing. Every day battled was another precious day won with your family, with your children that you so wanted to see further down the road of their lives, and with Josh. I got to know you and work with you for 20 years, and will remember your spirit, resolve and the great co-worker you were. Condolences and healing to Amy’s family.

My condolences to the Beckers family. Amy was a sweet lady. I remember meeting her, she had a smile that light up the room. Her kids are the greatest especially working with them at school. We also did Girl Scout. My daughter was friend with her in elementary. We will deeply missed her. God please wrap ur arm around her family during this difficult time. RIP Amy
I had the opportunity to work with Amy for the past 9 years, as well as get to know her as a friend. Amy was always upbeat and never showed any suffering. Amy practiced her faith daily and loved her family dearly. We are all fortunate to have known Amy and can learn how to live life by her example. My thoughts and prayers are with Josh, her children, her parents, and extended family and friends. Rest in Peace.
So sorry for your loss. Prayers❤️
I don’t think I will ever know anyone who had the strength, caring and warmth that you had. You were truly such a wonderful person. Even on the days I knew you didn’t feel well, you never showed it. Strength beyond what I could believe. Prayers and healing thoughts to Josh and your children. May they know so many people cared for you. You will be so missed. Emma

Amy was loved by everyone who knew her. I had the privilege of hiring Amy at CUA. She was a blessing to me with her bright smile and quick wit. Nothing was impossible for her as she grew in knowledge and advanced in her career. I retired 8 years ago, but have continued to treasure Amy and our time working together. My deepest condolences to her family. She is deeply missed.
Amy was a very outstanding Young Lady, Wife And Mother. I enjoyed getting to talk to her this last summer. I’m sending my condolences to all her Family and friends.
Janet, I loved the video of Amy. What wonderful parents you and David are is very evident. I was amazed by how much Amy looked like you Janet. Amy’s beautiful children will be her legacy, and she will never be forgotten.
