Andres “Andy” Abasolo, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on December 13, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. Andy was a devoted husband, dad, papa, brother, and friend whose presence brought warmth, music, and joy to everyone who knew him.

Andy had a deep love for music, especially playing the guitar. He shared his gift freely, blessing family and friends with countless moments filled with song, laughter, and heartfelt melodies. Music was not just a hobby for Andy; it was a way he connected with others and expressed his love. He was also known for his pride and joy: his classic Chevy, which he loved to show off and talk about with anyone who shared his appreciation for cars.

Andy’s legacy is one of love, family, music, and enduring memories. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Andy is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus Jay Abasolo and Mary Ruth “Ruthy” Abasolo; his siblings, Greg Abasolo, Jay Abasolo, Carmen Harshfield and Jana Abasolo.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila; his sons, Steven (Lexi) Abasolo, and Ryan (Meagan) Oliphant. He was a proud papa to Steddler, Steeli, Beckett, Kanon, and Reagan, who were the light of his life. Andy is also survived by his siblings, Cecelia Newman, Eloisa (Wes) Bennett, Amelia (John) Austin, Connie Sayler, Cathy (Kurt) Richardson. His life will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, December 18, 2025, with Funeral Service at 2:00 pm, Friday, December 19, 2025, both at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.

A memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Hospice Center, 313 South Market, Wichita, Kansas 67202.

  2. I am so sorry to hear of Andys’ passing. He was one of a kind and will be missed dearly. He would always have a smile on his face no matter what. I know that he was so happy to get his Chevy completed so he could show it off. He was a great person and someone that would do anything for a friend. RIP Andy and play your music so all can hear how good you are. Our condolences to your family and friends that knew him. He will be missed.

  3. This is a heart breaking shock and such a loss for all the lives and loved ones he touched. He was my shipmate and one of the kindest, best friends I ever had in the Navy. You have left this earth far too soon. 😢 Fair winds and following seas my dear friend. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to his beautiful family and his legacy.

  8. Sheila, Steven, & Ryan. Andy was a kind soul. We were saddened to get the phone call today about his passing. We mourn for the loss, but appreciate the time that was spent with Andy. Our condolences to your family. One thing I always admired about Andy was he always spoke of his wife with compassion, his sons with pride, and his grand-kids with joy. You were truly his world. We will miss having Andy around and hearing about his latest car upgrades, and the prizes he won in his car shows. Andy was dedicated, good-natured, and dependable. We will miss him, he was a good man.

  13. I’m am so very sorry Sheila , I remember when you two were just dating back when we were neighbors. Such a great guy and wow how happy he made you.   17. Love you, brother! Love all of the memories of us, playing music together, and hanging out not only in Wichita, Kansas City, but out here in Los Angeles! You are the best, and one of the most genuine people on the planet! I will miss you dearly!!
