Anita Moreno, 89, formerly of Howard, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2021 at Via Christi Ascension Broadmoor in Wichita, KS. She was born to Ysidro and Rosa Moreno on December 19, 1931 in Independence, KS. Anita graduated from Howard High School in 1950. She retired from Howard Twilight Manor after 25 years of service and moved to Wichita, KS to be close to family. Though she never had kids of her own, her greatest joy was being an aunt (Ni-Ni) who played an active and important role in their lives. She was a fantastic cook and looked forward to everyone coming over for dinner, but with that being said, if Popeyes was mentioned she was the first in the car but not before putting on her bright red lipstick. Shopping and going to Mexican dances were her favorite past-times and remained so at the time of her death. Survived by her sister, Juanita Rogers; nephew, Anthony (Sue) Terrell; nieces, Nicole (Doug) Baird, Lesley Rogers; great-nephews, Gabriel (Kyrstin) Terrell, Matt Terrell, Tanner Thomas; great-nieces, Tammy (David) Bowen, Lisa (Eric) Dillard, Danielle Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ysidro and Rosa Moreno; sister, Socorro Davis; brother, Raymond Moreno; brother-in-law, Les Rogers. Rosary will be at 9:30 am, Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am, Friday, March 5, 2021, both at All Saints Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Moline, KS. Thank you to the staff of Via Christi Ascension and Serenity Hospice. Memorial to: Alzheimer’s Association, 1820 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67214. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - East Chapel.
