Douglass, Ann D., 70, beloved mother and former Southeast High School English teacher, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008. Visitation with the family, 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Monday, April 21, Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Memorial service 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 22, Fairmount United Church of Christ. Survivors: sons, G. Bradley Douglass and John David and wife, Melissa Douglass of Wichita; mother, Noma M. Thompson of Wichita; brother, Kent Thompson of Denver, CO; sister, Sue Miller of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Madison and Parker Douglass. A memorial has been established with Independent Living Resource Center, 3033 W. 2nd, Wichita, KS, 67203. T

Ann and I began teaching the same year at Southeast High School. I always admired her courage and her gifted teaching abilities. I also admired her ability to embrace motherhood with the same determination and strong will that carried her through everything else in her life. She was a class act!
