Anne Darrough Travis

Travis, Anne Darrough, 85, of Wichita went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 8, 2013. Anne was born Sept. 12, 1927 in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Paul Margaret Darrough. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1949. Anne married Tom Travis in 1952 in Oklahoma City and then moved to Wichita where together they raised their five children. Anne earned her teaching certificate from WSU in 1965. She taught at the Institute of Logopedics for two years and then as a reading teacher with the Wichita Public Schools. Anne became a realtor for Bernice Watson in the 1980s and then with CKG in the 1990s. She was an active member of Plymouth Congregational Church, the Wichita Historical Museum Society, Domesticats and Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae for many years. Anne was an avid OU fan but also cheered for KU and K-State when they werent playing her alma mater. Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Tom Travis; and siblings Paul Darrough, Jr., Dorothy Logan, and Lina Koelm. She is survived by daughter Theresa (Gary) Langley; daughter Margaret (Tom) Keehn; son Kyle (Laura) Travis; daughter Miriam (Steve) Shambach; daughter Leslie (Brent) Talbot; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Anne is also survived by her sister Ruthie Johnston of OK and numerous nieces and nephews. Anne Travis was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend; a kind, wonderful lady that will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at Downing and Lahey Mortuary East, at 6555 E. Central in Wichita. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 11:00 am at Plymouth Congregational Church in Wichita. Memorials have been established with: Plymouth Congregational Church, the Wichita Historical Museum Society, and the Salvation Army.
