Arnold Robert R.

May 20, 1930 ~ May 22, 2009
Arnold, Robert R., 79, retired attorney, died on May 22, 2009. At his request, his body will be donated to KU School of Medicine. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at 1:30 p.m., Downing Lahey Mortuary, 6555 E. Central, Wichita, KS. Bob was born May 20, 1930 to Mason and Agnes Arnold in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was raised in Wichita. He graduated from East High School and received his undergraduate degree at Wichita State University. He received his law degree from Washburn University in Topeka. Bob served in the U.S Air Force in England, and spent 28 years in the Air Force Reserves, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He had his own law practice for many years in Wichita, and served as President of the Wichita Bar Association. He was a past President of the Wichita Board of Education and served as Sedgwick County Counselor. Bob was keenly interested in politics and was very active in the local Democratic Party. For all of his professional accomplishments and service to the community, Bobs greatest passion may have been playing the piano. He was adept at playing anything from Chopin to Ragtime to Boogie Woogie, and people would gather around the piano at parties and family get-togethers to be entertained. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Wellington, Frank and Sterling. He is survived by wife, Donna; daughter Laurie Showell (Wichita); sons and daughters-in-law Gregg and Virginia Arnold (Roeland Park, KS) and Jay and Stacy Arnold (Keller, TX); brothers Dail (Wichita), Gene and wife Laura (Goddard), John (Kansas City, KS), and sister Sue and husband Clarence Huenergardt (Lubbock, TX); seven grandchildren, Harper, Aynsley, Cameron, Connor, Jordan, Evan and Weston; Donnas children and grandchildren. Our thanks and appreciation to all the staff of Life Care Center of Wichita for their love and care for Bob and concern for our family. Memorials have been established with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, 225 W. Douglas, Suite 207, Wichita, KS 67202 and Alzheimers Association, 347 S. Laura, Wichita, KS 67211.
