Bohm, August M. “Gus,” of Wichita passed away on March 4th, 2015 at the age of 93 after a long illness. Visitation with the Family will be from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M., Monday, March 9, 2015. Rosary will be at 6:00 P.M., Monday, March 9, 2015; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 10, 2015, both at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Gus was born near Tipton, KS. He graduated from Glen Elder High School and attended Washburn University during which he enlisted in the Army Air Corps to serve during WWII. He served as the pilot of a B-24 bomber in the Asian theater. After the war he attended New York University and Maryknoll seminary. He earned his teaching credentials at St. Louis University and later earned his masters degree in counseling from Kansas State University. He taught high school in Montgomery City, MO, where he met his future wife, Candace Lynne McMaster. They were married on May 19, 1956, and moved to Lincoln, KS, where they both taught school. They then moved to Clay Center, Kansas where Gus served as a High School counselor. In 1968 Gus accepted a job as academic counselor with Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kansas where he remained until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes (Koss) and Robert Bohm; his sister; Mary; brothers, Joseph and Antone; half-brothers, Francis, Rudolph, Louis, Lawrence and Robert; and half-sister, Agnes. August is survived by his wife of 58 years, Candace of Wichita; and his four children, Rhondalyn Mock and husband, Robert of Wichita, Kyle Bohm of Phoenix, AZ, Christopher Bohm and wife, Sandra of Wichita, Melanie Bloom and husband, Daniel McNulty of Darien, CT. Grandchildren include Shannon, Courtney, Jordan, Gunnar and Reagan Bohm of Wichita, Christine, Nicole, and Ava Bloom, and Alex and Gavin McNulty of Darien, CT. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202. Downing Lahey East Mortuary.
