Barry Craig Metz May 9, 2019, age 65 Barry C. Metz entered eternity (“and beyond”) on May 9, 2019. He was born on Sept 11, 1953 in Stafford, KS to the late Jasper “Buddy” Metz and Twila Joyce Asher, as the younger brother to Linda (Metz) Chance and the late Steve Bartlett. He graduated from Stafford HS in 1971 and attended Hutchinson Community College before transferring to Wichita St University, where he joined Sigma Phi Epsilon and met his wife of 36 years, Pamela Richards. After obtaining his degree from WSU, Barry began working at the Kansas Corporation Commission, where he spent his entire career and retired as the Deputy Director on Feb 28, 2019 after 46 years of service. Barry dedicated his life to his friends/family. He loved spoiling his nieces, nephews & cousins, enjoyed Branson, an avid reader, movie watcher, and trivia aficionado. He was a regular at the Drive-In, KS State Fair. His wit/humor often resulted in his infectious laugh that lit up the room. Hobbies: tinkering with toys, cars, trains, anything mechanical. His family has lost their designated “Pizza Orderer and Movie Renter,” titles he held with pride. Barry is survived by many: Bartletts, Chances, Rundells, Siglers, Hontons. When you drink a Coca-Cola or see a Ford, think of Barry. Visitation will be held Friday, May 17 from 12–7 pm, at Downing & Lahey East, 6555 E Central, Wichita. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM on May 18 at St. Joseph Church in St. Joseph, KS. Donations can be made in Barry’s memory to the Stafford Museum, 100 N Main St, Stafford, KS 67578 and/or Guardians of the St. Joseph Church Foundation, P.O. Box 301, Clyde, KS 66938.
