Bernard H. Koster, Jr.

Koster, Bernard Herman, Jr., age 77, passed away at his home on May 1, 2013, surrounded by his family. “Buddy,” to his family and friends, was born August 24, 1935 in Richmond, Virginia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard H. and Nora (Dugan) Koster and by a grandson, Isaac Alexander Davis. He graduated from Benedictine Military High School in Richmond, Virginia and attended Randolph Macon College, Ashland, Virginia. He was proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps. “Bernie” as he was known to those in the business world had been the Kansas district sales manager for Allied Signal previously Fram Corporation. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, smoking ribs and turkey breasts for his family and friends, and for 20 years had a farm in Greenwood County. He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Honora (Noni) L. Koster; his son, Dr. Skip Koster, his wife, Gayle, and their children, Jordan and Jacie; his daughter, Nina L. Davis, her husband, Christopher, and their children, Lauren, Connor, Andrew, and Isabella Davis; his brother, Robert L. B. Koster of Mathews, Virginia. Memorial Service will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 6, 2013, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Richmond, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Lords Diner, 520 N. Broadway St., Wichita, KS 67214. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
