Bette Jean Silcott, 94, passed away with family, a caregiver and a hospice nurse by her side, at 5 p.m., Friday afternoon, February 10, 2017, in her Wichita home. Bette worked in Wichita at Innes in the china department, then later for Imperial Oil and Leben Oil Companies as an oil secretary. Before she retired, she and a friend started Tots Toggery, a childrens clothing store. Bette had a beautiful singing voice and was either in the choir or the choir director in many churches. She was asked to sing at many wedding and funerals. Visitation with the family, 6-8 p.m., Monday, February 13, Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Graveside service, 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, Forest Park Cemetery, Anthony, KS. Bette was the daughter of Theo Odessa (Watson) Trowbridge and Sherman Merritt Trowbridge of rural Sedgwick. She married Bruce Lee Behymer from Wichita and they had a daughter, Bettina. She later married Dale Silcott, who brought to the union his daughter, Jeannine, and son, Brian. Bette and Dale were married for more than 50 years. There are 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 350 N.
