Dear Stephanie, Mike and David, Your mother was a kind and giving person to me when I needed love and kindness in my life. I sat at the dinner table many times to eat the wonderful meals she prepared. I enjoyed many Christmas seasons with her and your Dad. I hope it helps you remember those really great memories by knowing how much she meant to me and how much she did for me. In fact, both of your parents were instrumental in my achieving some of my early goals in life – Wichita Arrows softball team, college and knowing what it means to be a family. My heart breaks for you and I also extend to you my deepest sympathy. I will never forget Betty Jewel, ‘Dean’s bride’. Take care of each other. Cynthia Kelley
My condolences to the Norris family, but especially to Steph. I know how much Betty meant to you, Steph. Your Mom-and Dean- made all of us feel like part of the family whenever you brought your friends to Wichita. You’ve got so many friends who are thinking of you and will help you through this. We all love you.
Steph, I was so sorry to hear about Betty. She was always so kind to all of us. I remember how witty and funny she was. She always welcomed us to her home. I pray you find peace in remembering the good times and know you and Betty are in my thoughts and prayers. Spud
Betty was one of a kind. Her humor was unique and her laugh contagious. I still remember her peeking down the stairs at the farm when a KU game was close and not able to watch. She and Dean were a pair and they can enjoy each other for eternity now and look down on us and shake their heads.
Highland Song Now who will lead our Carnival And who will make us stronger Who will mend our broken sleep When she is here no longer For whose part do we stand and bow What stories do we tell And will we memorize the day When great and greatness fell Say will this valley overcome And will these shadows fade And will we lift our eyes to see The beauty that she made The disappearing last of her That leads to worlds unknown Has left a path to softly tread When sadness wonders home I’ll meet thee where the highland winds Divide wild mountain thyme Where I will be forever yours…and you forever mine Mom – this was recited today on one of your favorite soap operas..and it so reminded me of you.
David, and Mike, I remember your mother so well. She had a wonderful personality and was always nice to us. My sympathies and prayers are with you. I am sure she appreciated all that you have done to try to help her. God bless your family, Judy Streeter
