Beverly “Bev” Filson left us peacefully on May 25, 2022, a few days after her 92nd birthday. She was surrounded by her family and was blessed by numerous friends’ visitations. She was born and raised in Wichita, graduating from Wichita North High School. Throughout the years she maintained many friendships with members of her graduating class. She always looked forward to seeing her high school friends and even helped in arranging some of their reunions. She went on to attend Kansas State University, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Again, she maintained a relationship with her sorority sisters and was a lifelong, passionate, KSTATE athletics fan. Manhattan was also the place where she met her future husband, Henry “Hank” Filson, who was studying Geology. Although she considered herself foremost as a homemaker and mother, she was much more than that. Over her life she became an accomplished bookkeeper for her husband’s business, a competitive Bridge player, an avid Golfer with a “hole in one” to her credit and a private pilot with membership in The Ninety-Nines, International Organization of Women Pilots. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Marie Filson; husband, Henry “Hank” Filson; parents, Benjamin and Opal Pocock; and brothers, Ben Pocock Jr. and Billie Pocock. Beverly is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Baker (husband, Jeff); and grandchildren, Brian Michael May, Jamie Filson May, all of Tulsa, OK. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, June 3, 2022, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. The service will be live streamed and available to view through the church’s website. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with: Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1958 N. Webb Rd., Wichita, KS 67206. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - East Chapel.
