Blanche Bell Hopper Whitney, 91, retired homemaker, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born April 27, 1925 to Roy and Irene Hopper on a farm near Conway Springs, KS. She fought a courageous battle against PSP and will be dearly missed. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis A. Whitney, Jr.; brothers, Ralph (Dorothy) Hopper, Melville (Ruth) Hopper; sister, Velma (Jack) Baker. Survivors: daughters, Nikki (John) Shirley, Marsha Akers, both of Wichita, Karen (Grant) Evans of Houston; grandchildren, Jason Shirley, Whitney (Tony) Rassel, Amber Akers, Logan Akers, all of Wichita, Collin (Mariana) Evans, Marshall (Amanda) Evans of the Houston area; great-grandchildren, Emilia, Addison, Allison, Blake, Colton, Cody; brother-in-law, Robert Whitney. Visitation with family present Thursday, May 5, 7:00 - 8:00 P.M.; Services 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 6, both at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
