  1. I knew Vernon as Coach Blasi. I’ll never forget him coaching our baseball team as we grew up at Goddard. Coach was kind, very knowlegeable about he game and always helpful. I’ll never forget the times he took us to Lawrence Stadium. No matter who forgot to bring their money…he always made sure we had a coke, hotdogs and popcorn. I’m coaching kids now and I try to model a lot of what I do after Coach Blasi. Another thing I loved was his support for the Goddard Lion football team. Ken, Stan and Steve all great players. But behind the boy is always a re great man…their Dad. I know God will be able to find a way to let him coach in Heaven!

  2. Theresa and Family I was deeply saddened when I heard the news about Vern. The first thing which came to my mind was when I was about five or six years old. Everytime my dad and I would come to the gas station Vern would always give me a roll of those Smartees or Malt Ball candies and he would always tell me to be good for my dad. Well, I was good part of the time anyways. I guess I am trying to say I always respected Vern because of those days. You all are in my thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
