Fisher, Brant Albert “Tobe”, dearly devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed into eternal rest at the age of 84 on Friday, May 11, 2012. Tobe was born on October 16, 1927 in Fort Gibson, OK to Brant Biggerstaff and Ethel Susie Fisher, and was raised by a family of potato farmers and traders. He had an exciting boyhood spent hunting, fishing, and riding horseback from the age of five. He learned a strong work ethic early in life. He attended Fort Gibson High School and Northeastern State Teachers College in Tahlequah, OK. He was a gifted, outstanding athlete, and excelled in basketball and baseball. He was signed to Triple A minor league professional baseball at the age of 17. He enlisted in the Merchant Marines and moved to California. Thereafter, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the close of World War II and was trained for the invasion of Japan. He served honorably and was discharged in 1948. He returned to professional baseball, and was called up to the Major Leagues to play the position of catcher for the Washington Senators. Just two weeks before reporting to the Major Leagues, he severely broke his ankle during a baseball game, which ended his professional career. He returned to Oklahoma, and in September, 1951 he married Shirley Ann Coon of Muskogee, OK. They moved to Wichita, KS, where Tobe worked for several years for Service Auto Glass before founding his own company, Instant Auto Glass Company. Later in his business career he was active in commercial real estate development. He and Shirley celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2011. Tobe is survived by his wife Shirley; his sister Ruth of Las Vegas, NV; his children Toby and Sally Fisher, and Ginger and Butch Hudson, all of Wichita, and Rocky and Sherli Fisher of Tulsa, OK; his beloved grandchildren, Tyler Fisher, Ryan Wisdom, Rachel Wisdom, Jessi Fisher, Jenni Fisher, and Jason Fisher; and many great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and his beloved granddaughter, Jami Ann Fisher. Private burial at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, OK. Friends and family are welcome to attend a gathering to remember Tobe at Downing Lahey Mortuary East on Monday, May 14, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. I will set aside a moment on these coming days to ask God for his continued love, grace adn watch over yourself and family memebers. I hope you can find comfort in the cross where Jesus poured out his love for us. We can have peace because Jesus over came the world. I will be thinking of you as you go through these days. If you want to talk or pray together. Dont hesitate to reach out. ‘Be still thereis a healer, his love is deepr then the sea. His mercy is unfailing his arms a fortress for the weak. Let faith arise. I lift my hands to believe again. You are my refuge you are my strength as I pour out my Heart I remember. You are faithful God Forever’ With Love Kenny Weaver

  3. To Mrs Fisher, I am honored to have know your husband as well as you. He will be missed. May the Lord bring confort to you heart. To the remainder of the faimily. Fish was a heck of a good guy though I only knew him briefly he made a lasting impression on my heart. May you find the Grace of the Lord during your time of sorrow.

  4. I was able to meet Mr. Fisher at Rocky’s Place last year and within the first 2 seconds of our meeting I could tell he was quite the guy. With no discussion about his past it was apperent he was a worldy individual with a Personality not contained by his skin. He made an impression upon me in that meeting no doubt. I hope and aspire to be 1/2 as successful, half as healthy and half the man as he was at 83. He had a Zest for life that was apperent even in the way he walked and shook your hand. The world is slowly running out of these guys whom have never met a challenge or found a problem that they couldn’t figure out and I’m sure Saint Peter will be glad to have him around. I can only imagine how the others in Heaven are gathering around attracted to his voice and demeanor. May we all aspire to be Like Mr. Fisher. Our Thoughts and Prayers are with the Family.

  5. In your sadness, may there be hope… In your thoughts, may there be peace… In your heart, may there be healing. My condolences to the family on the loss of your loved one.(Psalms 55:22)
