Brent "Charlie" Helm

July 17, 1957 ~ December 19, 2024
Brent “Charlie” Helm, age 67, received divine blessing on December 19th, 2024. Despite life’s challenges, his love for his family kept him strong until the very end.
Loving husband, father, papa, and friend to all. Through his own inspiring story, helped anyone he could and lifted the spirits of those he met along the way, always leading with strength and compassion.
Retired and proud owner of El Mexico Cafe. He was also a successful manager in the car sales industry for over 25 years. Together with his wife, Rhonda, they owned Brad G. House, where they valiantly changed and impacted the lives of many.
Brent’s pride and joy was his family, children and grandchildren, and his dog Ruby. When he wasn’t cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, he was watching National Geographic with a cold glass of milk. He was passionate about music, always humming a tune or tapping his cane to a beat. He especially loved the gospel choir at his Church, Holy Savior, where he was an active member for 20 years.
Brent was a one-of-a-kind genuine and courageous soul who will be profoundly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest"-Matthew 11:28
“Smell the sea, and feel the sky, let your soul and spirit fly, into the mystic, and when the foghorn blows, I will be coming home.” -Van Morrison

Dear Family:
We are shocked and saddened to learn of Brent’s passing. We met Brent in January of 1990, when he was working at MH Ford on North Broadway. I was 20yrs old, a college student, and had just moved into my first apartment when a reckless driver hit me, totaling my car and causing permanent damage to my neck & back. My dad took me to look for a car, and Brent was the one who helped us. We explained the situation and told him about my tight budget. He was so kind. He didn’t high-pressure us, he acted like he had all night to help us, and he ended up giving us a great deal. I was so impressed that I wrote to the head of Ford about him – and they wrote back! My folks and I continued to do business with Brent for years. When he became a manager, he couldn’t sell us cars directly, so he would get a good salesperson to work with us, and would tell them what our deal was. All they had to do was take care of the paperwork and close the deal. No pressure, no numbers games, etc. When we came in to test drive cars, he would hand us the keys and tell us to just bring it back by closing. That freaked out a lot of other salespeople, who thought they needed to go with us on the test drives. lol. Over the years, Brent became a friend to our family, and we all thought a lot of him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. God’s blessings and peace to you all.
My deepest condolences to the Helm children and grandchildren!! I know that your mom and dad loved you all so very much!! Let the good memories help you heal!! I keep you all in my heart, thoughts and prayers
These past 62 plus years our paths have Criss crossed, thanks Charlie for many fond memories
Until we meet agian brother.. dance with Jesus.
For some years now, despite his physical infirmities which he set aside, Brent focused on uplifting me.
Not once did he complain about himself but rather he expressed a natural joy to see me. Brent was a tremendous encouragement to me and a special friend.
In the last couple of years, I have really drawn close to Charlie again. I loved how he would listen to me so closely, and was not afraid to ask for help, or speak his mind. I will truly miss you my good friend.
