Bryan Flores, 51, Instructor of English and creative writing, died Saturday, May 11, 2024. Bryan was a writer, a teacher, a friend, a son, and a brother, as well as a film buff, a reader, a gamer, and comic book aficionado. He earned his Master of Fine Arts in Fiction from Wichita State University, where he taught as a lecturer for many years before traveling to Prague to teach conversational English and the quest to find better football (soccer) on TV. He returned to Wichita and continued to teach as a lecturer, and to pursue his life's work as an exemplar and teacher of good humor and fine storytelling every chance he had. Bryan was a good listener, made friends easily, and was always surrounded by people who loved him. Bryan is preceded in death by his father, James Rosendo Flores. He is survived by his mother, Vicki Flores of Wichita, KS; grandmother, Dorothy Armstrong; cousin, Alexis Armstrong of Bel Aire, KS; aunt, Rhonda Armstrong of Bel Aire, KS; uncle, Dan Armstrong of Bel Aire, KS. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM June 15, 2024, in the Rhatigan Student Center on the Wichita State University Campus. More details will be provided on Facebook.
