Carolyn J. Barbour

Carolyn J. Barbour, 71, retired after 32 years in the Controllers Office at Wichita State University, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, in her home surrounded by family. Carolyn was born September 23, 1943, in Dodge City, Kansas, to Leonard and Ruby Dim Cox. She married Dallas McKibbin in 1960, and had one son, Jeff McKibbin. Carolyn later married the love of her life, Robert L. Barbour, on August 28, 1965, and had two children, Brad Barbour and Lori Ledbetter. Preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Ruby Dim Cox. Survived by husband, Robert L. Barbour of Wichita, Kansas; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Rhonda McKibbin of Valley Center, Kansas; son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Stacy Barbour of Valley Center, Kansas; and daughter and son-in-law, Troy and Lori Ledbetter of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Amber Harris, Stephanie Bowling, Chance and Cooper McKibbin, Hannah, Jason and Alexandria Barbour; great-grandchildren, Kyler and Nolyn Harris and Payton Bowling. Memorials have been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202; Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 7901 W. 21st St. N., Wichita, KS 67205, and Lifeline Animal Placement and Protection (a no-kill animal shelter), 310 W. 45th N., Wichita, Kansas, 67204. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2015, at Downing and Lahey Mortuary West. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
