Harkness, Charles A. (Charlie), 61, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 after a five year battle with cancer at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Charlie graduated from Thomas More Prep, Hays, KS and attended FHSU. He worked in the auto parts industry for over 39 years and most recently as a sales rep for TIFCO Industries. He was an avid KU basketball fan and never missed March Madness. His passion was gardening, landscaping, and photographing flowers and wild life on the many miles traveled on his job. Preceded in death by parents, Robert and Catherine (Dreiling) Harkness and brother, John. Survivors: wife, Donna; brother, Bob of Lawrence, KS; sister, Diane (Allan) Kowal of Overland Park, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with Rosary at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 8, 2014; Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M, Wednesday, April 9, 2014, both at Church of the Magdalen. Hays, KS services include a Vigil, Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M., at Hays Memorial Chapel, 19th Pine; Funeral Mass, Friday, April 11, 2014 at 10:00 A.M., Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1805 Vine St. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
