Charles Admirl Arman

Charles Admirl Arman, 92, died Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 3, 2017, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Wichita, KS. Charles was born to the late Admirl and Rose Arman in St. Louis, MO. He married Mary Louise Anderson on February 13, 1954; she survives him. He is also survived by his sister, Rosemary (Jack) Drummond; children, Ann (John) Vering, Margaret (Steven) Nilles, Monica (Bill) OConnor, John (Ardith) Arman, Peter (Michele) Arman; 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Charles served as a US Marine in World War II and graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Accounting. He attributed going to college to his life-long friend, Justin Knapp who suggested they attend Mizzou after the war. After graduating college, he moved to Liberia, Africa where he worked for Firestone Plantations. He returned to St. Louis in 1954 where he met his bride and accepted an accounting position with Monsanto, where he was employed for 33 years One of his early assignments took him to Panama where his three daughters were born. He retired in 1986 as Assistant Treasurer and Director of State and Local Taxes. Charles also served in the Air Force Reserve as a 2nd Lieutenant and was elected Alderman for 4 years in the city of Manchester, MO. He lived and taught his family: "Balance and moderation in all things," and "Work hard, play hard and Be Holy." Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
