Spradlin, Charles B., 75, retired geologist, and long-time member of the Kansas Geological Society, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists, passed away May 26, 2007. Charles was born in Vernon, TX on June 10, 1931 to Dr. and Mrs. Simon B. Spradlin, and grew up on Norman, OK, graduating from Norman High School in 1949, and the University of Oklahoma, with a B.S. in geology, in 1953. He served in the United States Air Force in Germany from 1953 to 1956, and retired from the Reserve as a Captain. He married Gaynell Banks on January 25, 1957 and received his M.S. in geology from OU in 1959. Charles and Gay moved to Wichita in 1959 where they have resided since. Charles worked or consulted for most of the larger independent oil companies in Wichita during his career, including Raymond Oil Company, Slawson Oil Company, Murfin Drilling Company, Clinton Oil Company, and Berexco Inc. He is survived by his wife Gay, sons Charles, Jr. (Ann), Stephen (Dawn) and Jeffrey (Laura), eight grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren. Memorial service at Hillside Christian Church, at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 30. Memorials have been established with Hillside Christian Church, 8330 E.
