Charles "C.W." William Robertson, Sr.

Charles William “C.W.” Robertson, Sr., 90, died peacefully Saturday, July 15, 2023. C.W. was born in Wichita, KS on September 12, 1932, the son of the late Frank Mather Robertson, Sr. and Jessie Eleanor Knorr Robertson. He was a lifelong resident of Wichita, a graduate of Wichita High School East class of 1950, and attended the University of Wichita (now Wichita State University). He served his country during the Korean era in the Marine Corps, deployed as a member of a rifle company, and later as a drill instructor. After military service, he worked for Mid-Co Photo. He spent most of his working life as a technical writer in the general aviation industry, was a dedicated member of Blessed Sacrament Church, and raised a family of eight children, most of whom still live in the area. He led Cub/Boy Scouts and youth baseball at Blessed Sacrament in the 70s and enjoyed being Santa later in life for Blessed Sacrament School and USD 259.He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Frank M. Robertson, Jr.; older brother, Frank M. Robertson II (Joan); sister, Helen Robertson Eby (Walter); and infant granddaughter, Molly Sophia Schmidt. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Josephine Ann (JoAnn) Funke Robertson; his children, Charles William “C.W.” Robertson, Jr. (Judy) of Goddard, Melissa Orme (Kipp) of Newnan, GA, Ann Marie Spradlin of Andover, Fred Robertson (Ellen) of Haysville, Helen Robertson of Wichita, Joe Robertson (Janelle) of Wichita, Mike Robertson (Amanda) of Edmond, OK, Jessica Schmidt (Kurt) of Wichita; and grandchildren, C.W. Robertson, III, Michelle Alders (Eric), Brian Orme, Garrett Orme (Hannah), Timothy Spradlin, James Spradlin, Elizabeth Spradlin, Richard Hopkins (Angie), Kevin Robertson (Elizabeth), Gabriel Robertson, Samuel Robertson, Allison Theerman, Kendall Robertson, Austin Schmidt, Henry Schmidt, and Isabel Schmidt; and nine great-grandchildren, Liam and Silas Robertson (children of Kevin and Elizabeth Robertson), Kaitlyn and Lance Alders (children of Michelle and Eric Alders), and Spencer, Alyssa, Cassidy, Shanna, and Lucas Hopkins (children of Richard and Angie Hopkins); and four great-great-grandchildren, Addisyn, and Brailyn Oswald (children of Cassidy Oswald), Jameson Stuhlsatz (son of Cassidy and Tim Stuhlsatz), Brayden Hopkins (son of Alyssa Hopkins); his brother-in-law, John Funke and Maryanna Smellow; sister-in-law, Lilian Funke; and many nieces and nephews. Rosary will be 9:30 am, and the Funeral will immediately follow at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 124 N. Mr. Robertson coached my second grade baseball team at Blessed Sacrament. He was a wonderful man! I also knew him from Saturday evening Mass at Blessed Sacrament. I am grateful to have known him.
