Charlotte Holmes (Noe) Browning

Charlotte (Noe) Holmes Browning 83, of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Shreveport, LA, passed away Jan. 13, 2016. Charlotte was born Sept. 23, 1932 in Wichita, KS to Elmer Luther and Nina Leola (Humbolt) Noe. She grew up in Wichita, KS where she graduated from East High School. Her undergraduate degree in Business was received from Wichita University where she was active in Pi Kappa Psi sorority. At the age of 63, Charlotte earned her Masters in Consumer Affairs from Louisiana Tech University. Charlotte thoroughly enjoyed a successful career as a buyer at Higbees, Cleveland, OH, Selber Bros. in Shreveport, LA; Embrys in Lexington, KY and Dillards in Shreveport, LA; retiring in 2000. She married Elmon Willis Holmes in 1968 and they had one son, Steven Holmes. After Elmons death she married Martin Browning in 2002 and moved to Tucson, AZ. She was a delightful and wonderful woman, loved by many, and will be dearly missed by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands. Charlotte is survived by her beloved son, Steven and wife Kacy Holmes and precious grandchildren, Hunter, Alex and Kate, Richardson, TX as well as many cousins and friends. The family wishes to thank her many care givers over the years that provided her with compassionate care. Funeral services will be held at College Hill UMC in Wichita, KS on Tuesday, January 19 at 1:00 p.m., with a family visitation at 12:00. Burial follows at El Paso Cemetery, Derby, KS.
