Cheryl Masten Schechter-Keenan was welcomed by Jesus into Heaven on February 4, 2024, at 2:33pm. Born on April 13, 1944, in Nashua, New Hampshire. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julia Ann and John Walter Masten. Survived by her loving and devoted husband and confidant for 39 years, Dennis Keenan. Also survived by son, Jared Schechter (Mary); grandchildren, Xavier Schechter, Michael Schechter (Zora), Jade Schechter (Steven). Cheryl graduated from Rivier University, New Hampshire and received a Masters Degree from Wichita State University. For years she taught kindergarten children, many of whom remember Ms Schechter. She loved her young charges in school.Cheryl volunteered for many organizations needing persons of her kindness and caring gifts, including Exploration Place, a premier center for educational and learning experiences. She was able to rescue many unborn children at A Better Choice. Additional volunteering was provided to the Orpheum Theatre and ushering at Century II. Her same volunteering unselfishness was her dedication to the mission and ministries of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Wichita, KS.At home, she was the ultimate Chief Executive of the Household. Every day had a specific agenda and schedule, starting with morning coffee for she and husband, Dennis and ending their day with a glass of wine. She was a Gourmet Cook, with a dizzying array of recipes, all of which were prepared beyond expectations. A favorite among family and friends was always a request for homemade Manicotti; and who could forget nearly every Sunday when, at home, she and Dennis would host Jared and various family members for a summer swim or a barbecue lunch any time of the year, and often laughing through the fun "Left-Right-Center" game. She maintained wonderful gardens, flowers and vegetables; and the birds were always assured of a full feeder and a fresh water birdbath. She loved to travel all over the U.S., including Hawaii and Alaska. She especially enjoyed travelling to the oceans, and internationally to Europe, Africa, and Mexico. She was an avid sports fan, which included Kansas, K-State, and Villanova football and basketball, and "Go Chiefs".There was only one like her, My Cheryl.
