Chester Lee Roy Weatherly
Passed away peacefully on June 24, 2020 in Wichita, KS. Lee Roy was born in Parnell, TX on December 11, 1931 to Chester and Mattie Weatherly. Six children were born of the marriage, Lee Roy being the second child of the couple. Lee Roy graduated from Turkey High School in Turkey, TX in 1951. After high school he married Wanda Lee Trammell on February 3, 1952. In 1954 he entered the military and was Honorably Discharged in 1956. Lee Roy and Wanda had 2 sons, Michael Roy Weatherly and Randy Dean Weatherly. After leaving Turkey, TX and moving to Wichita, Lee Roy was employed in the electronic engineering department at Beech Aircraft. In 1956, he joined Beltone Hearing Co. and received extensive factory training in Chicago, IL. Lee Roy was fondly referred to as Mr. Fix-It for over 50 years, until he retired. If Lee Roy couldn’t fix it, it couldn’t be fixed and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t try to fix. Lee Roy was a member of Sharon Baptist Church for over 60 years and found joy in doing repair work around the church anytime he could. He also served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Maintenance Man. He was a man of few words and good temperament, but his relationship with his Savior, his church and family were the most important things to him. He proved this by the time he spent loving them and teaching his children Christian values. After the death of his wife, Wanda, he married Jo Hartman on November 20, 2010. Jo has been his constant support, love, and caretaker during his last difficult years. Lee Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Mattie; his first wife, Wanda; son, Randy; sister, Colleen and Willia Dean; brothers, Jerry and James. Lee Roy is survived by his wife, Jo, of the home; his son, Michael (Sandy) Weatherly of Wewoka, OK; daughter-in-law, Barb Weatherly of Bartlesville, OK; brother, Bob (Reva) Weatherly of Canyon, TX; step-children, Pamela (Randy) Meinholdt of Shawnee, KS, Kenny (Claudia) Hartman of Shawnee, KS; grandchildren, Jared (Molly) Weatherly, Josh Weatherly, Katie (Bryce) Zahn; numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Services will be held at Sharon Baptist Church on Monday, June 29, 2020 with visitation at 10:00 am and service to follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Sharon Baptist Church or Catholic Care Center. Interment in Garden of Memory at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery. Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
Leroy was such a wonderful Christian friend for many, many years at Sharon Baptist Church. Now, he is with the Lord — no more pain, no more tears. Glenn Thompson
Lee Roy was a truly kind, helpful gentleman. He loved his church, and worked tirelessly to honor his Lord by making it a welcoming place along with Jo. Many are the hours they spent painting and making the Sunday School areas look beautiful. I enjoyed being a fellow laborer with them.
I can truly say Leroy will be forever remembered and forever missed till that day when we are together again in that place called Heaven. I admire no man more than Chester Leroy Weatherly. Leroy was truly a GOOD MAN. How do I know ?? Leroy and I worked and served the Lord side by side for decades at Sharon Baptist Church. He was always Faithful, Wise, Loving and Hard Working in his service. We not only worked together, we played together, His Family and My family went on vacations together for years. I knew this man, He truly was a good man. I will miss his friendship and companionship for the rest of my days. to Jo and Family, know that we share with you in this time of grief, and also in love and memory of Leroy.
Leesa and I pray God’s comfort for all the Weatherly family. I am grateful to have served alongside this wonderful servant of the Lord. He will be missed by his church and family!!!
Leroy was a very kind man and his love for the Lord was evident as he was always available to help at the church or anyone needing assistance. He is probably already in Heaven planting flowers and pulling weeds. He liked to be kept busy.we will miss him.Love to the family Nancy Ford
I will always remember those lake vacations and all of the fun we all had year after year. I am sorry for your loss but let us remember the goodtimes as well. Keeping you in our thoughts

Peace, prayers, and blessings. Wishing you some small comfort in this time of sorrow.
Rest Chester, until you hear at dawn, the low, clear reveille of God. Thank you for your service to this nation.
Uncle LeeRoy was such a kind and loving man. I loved to listen to his stories of stealing watermelons and dumping over outhouses. His stories were some of the best ever. While we’re thankful he isn’t suffering, he will be missed dearly. Much love to Jo, Mike, Sandy, Barbara and the rest of the family.
