Chris Davis, 45, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024. Chris was born to Debbie (Struble) Rather and Rick Davis on April 30, 1979. He graduated Mulvane High School in 1997 and then Pittsburg State University in 2003. From growing up in the town of Mulvane, to college at Pitt State, through his adult life, he was always the one to make others laugh and smile with a multitude of stories to share or antics sure to entertain. He loved people, whether it was friends he knew from childhood, high school, or college or his coworkers at Spirit AeroSystems. Chris relished cheering on his favorite sports teams, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, even in their dire years. He never gave up hope, starting each season with optimism and a “This is our year!” only to be ultimately disappointed, until Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid turned his optimism into real life. Most notably, Chris loved his family. His three children were the light of his life, and he loved them dearly. He enjoyed serving as a human playground, cheering them on at their various activities, Friday night pizza and movie nights, endless bags of popcorn, and learning Taylor Swift’s discography from beginning to present-day. Chris’ memory is carried on by his wife, Megan (Quaney) Davis; children, Paetyn McCurry, Beckett Davis, and Graham Davis; mother, Debbie Rather; father, Rick Davis; brothers, Ryan (Jayme) Davis, Brandon (Angela) Davis, Kyle Davis; grandparents, Carl and Margaret Davis; along with nieces and nephews, Caylee and Trenton Davis, Ellie and Henrik Davis (and their mother, Anna), Westyn and Vivian Davis, and Parker Haden. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Don and Dorothy Struble, and stepfather, Paul Rather. To honor Chris’ memory, services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2024. The funeral mass will be at 11:00 am on Friday, May 24, 2024. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the family in their time of need. Donations can be made payable to Megan Davis at 8918 West 21st Street North Ste 200, #158, Wichita, KS 67205. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Chris was truly one of a kind. My first memory was meeting he and Nate. They were inseparable for some time. Impersonating ’Night at the Roxbury’ characters and their wicked dance moves. Always smiling to the point of contagion to everyone around him.

  2. Great young man to work with. Chris had a great sense of humor especially working in stressful situations. He was kind to a fault and loved his family. I always thought of him as one of my kids.

  3. Rest in Peace Chris, walk with Christ now. We do not remember days, we remember moments of you.
