Christena Joyce Luper (Teeny) a resident of Wichita, Kansas went to be with her Lord Jesus on August 27, 2021 at the age of 87. She passed away in her beloved home of thirty-five years. Christena was born on August 19,1934 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to William H. and Violet (Walton) Bobb. She was half Native American Indian of the Delaware Nation. She deeply loved her husband, Jesse Leon Luper, Sr for over 70 years. They were married on April 1, 1951. “Leon” preceded her in death on February 26, 2021. Christena treasured her family immensely and considered raising her children her highest accomplishment. She cared for everyone she met and they quickly became her friend. All who knew her loved her dearly. The world lost a wonderful serving woman, but heaven gained a precious jewel. She will be greatly missed! Christena drove a school bus for Haysville, Kansas school district for over ten years, then was hired by the City of Wichita to drive a city bus and she did so for fourteen years, five months. She probably would have driven a city bus for much longer, if she had not been diagnosed with macular degeneration. She received Jesus as her Lord and Savior in mid-70’s and will be remembered as a prayer warrior. Some of her most treasured memories were camping, family reunions in Oklahoma, holidays with lots of food, laughter, and family. She is survived by her five children: Vicki L. Luper of Wichita, Kansas; Jesse L. Luper, Jr and wife Tena of Whitney, Texas; Angia L. Martin and husband James of Atlantic Beach, Florida; Richard W. Luper of Wichita; and Reesa C. Driver and husband Paul of Wichita; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a sister, Phyllis (Hayes) of Wichita, Kanas. She is preceded in death by her husband (Leon); her parents (William and Violet); two brothers Dean and Bill; three sisters Louise, Joella, and Roszella; and son-in-law, John Rainer. The Viewing will be held on September 10, 2021 - 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Downing and Lahey East Mortuary, 6555 East Central, Wichita, KS 67206 The Celebration of Life will be held on September 11, 2021 - 10:30 am at Crossroads Baptist Church, 11441 E.
