Christopher Allen Jeter, 79, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, surrounded by family.

Chris lived his life guided by a strong Catholic faith. He was an active and devoted member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Wichita, where he found community, joy, and purpose. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, shaping how he loved, served, and led his family and community.

Chris’s greatest joy was his family. He was deeply proud to be a devoted husband to Lorraine and a loving father to Michele, Nichole, and Gavin. He delighted in being present for his grandchildren’s lives—attending band concerts, cheering on robotics events, and supporting Girl Scout cookie sales with pride and enthusiasm. His devotion to family was at the heart of who he was.

Born with a lifelong love of learning and athletics, Chris swam varsity at the University of Kansas, where he was also a proud member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. He went on to earn his Ph.D. from KU and devoted much of his life to education as a teacher, coach, and administrator.

After a distinguished career in education and human resources, Chris retired from Boeing. His commitment to mentoring and service extended beyond the classroom—he was a devoted Boy Scout leader, avid runner, and passionate KU supporter. Chris proudly held KU football season tickets since 1994, served as president of the Wichita Jayhawk Club, and treasured the camaraderie of fellow Jayhawks.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Stewart and Burks Jeter; and his sister, Kaaren Brown. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine; daughters, Michele (Tom), Nichole (Jon); son, Gavin (Kelly); three cherished grandchildren, Joshua, Ashley, and David; his brothers, Jeff Jeter (Diane) and Lester Palmer Jeter (Sanny); and many other relatives and friends.

Rosary will be at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, September 10, 2025; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, September 11, 2025, both at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Chris’s name to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 645 N. 119th St. W., Wichita, KS 67235; the University of Kansas (the Williams Fund for athletics or the KU Medical Center), c/o KU Endowment, P.O. Box 928, Lawrence, KS 66044-0928; or the Catholic Diocese of Wichita Priests Retirement and Education Fund, 424 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS 67202.

Chris will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his faith, and his Jayhawk spirit. His legacy of leadership, service, and love will live on in those whose lives he touched.

Rock Chalk, Forever Jayhawk!
