Clinton Wayne Hooper

Hooper, Clinton Wayne, 30, was born to Wayne and Sherry Hooper, August 13, 1979, in Clearwater, KS and passed away January 7, 2010. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 16, at Downing Lahey Mortuary East, 6555 E. Central. A private inurnment will occur at Maple Grove Cemetery. Clinton grew up in a small town with small town values. He was coached by his father in baseball and participated in Boy Scouts. He was an honors student at Clearwater High School, and was chosen as a National Merit Scholar finalist. He attended both Kansas State and Wichita State Universities. Clinton had a formidable intelligence, excelling in arts, reading and writing, along with a heart so huge he could not pass a stray cat without gathering it in. He will be sorely missed by his father, Wayne Hooper, and step-mother, Marian Chambers; his mother Sherry Mallows and step-father, Gary Mallows; his grandmother, Imogene Hooper; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as many friends. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 837 S. Hillside, Wichita, KS, 67211 and the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS, 67219. A private inurnment will occur at Maple Grove Cemetery.
