Clyde Clifton Templeman, Jr.

Templeman, Jr., Clyde Clifton (Cliff), was born in Colo, Iowa on June 10, 1926 to Clyde and Frances (Norton) Templeman. He passed away April 28, 2015 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. Cliff graduated from Colo High School in 1943, where he participated in various sports. He served in the 17th, 82nd and 101st Airborne Division during World War II and was stationed in Europe from 1944-1945. In 1952, he graduated from Iowa State University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Cliff was in private practice in Williams, Iowa from 1952-1966 with his partner Dr. Romaine Buzzetti. He held various positions within the veterinarian field in St. Joseph, MO, Kansas City, and Philadelphia from 1966-1986. He came to Wichita in 1986 working in the research department at the KU School of Medicine. In 1954, he married Jane Frudden at Greene, Iowa. Three children were born to this union. On August 8, 1992, he was united in marriage to Patricia Surls from Iowa Falls, Iowa. They made their home in Wichita. Cliff was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church and, for as long as he was able, participated in various community activities. He was known for his generous and loving nature and his sense of humor. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; his three children, Dr. David Templeman (Joyce Byrd); Anne Templeman, both from Minneapolis, Minnesota; Dr. Mark Templeman (Mary) from Salt Lake City, Utah; two step-children, Curt Surls (Georgia Capell) from Torrance, California; and Courtney Surls (Mark Caylor) from Washington, DC; six grandchildren, David, Matthew, Claire, Will, Catherine and Caroline; and two step-grandchildren, Ethan and Adam. He is also survived by a sister, Janet Bailey (Don) from Denton, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; a half-brother, Glenn; and a half-sister, Lillian. Services will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 2, 2015. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, 2525 N.
