Cody Crawford, 55, died Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, May 29, 2024; Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 30, 2024, both at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.Cody was born October 4, 1968 in Lebanon, Tennessee, making Alvin and Bonnie (Skelton) Crawford’s family of four boys complete. The Crawfords moved to south-east Kansas in 1973 where Cody graduated from Altoona Midway in 1987. Shortly after he married his high school sweetheart Candy Holtzman, she gave him three boys and thirty-three beautiful years together. He worked at Boeing throughout the conversion to Spirit Aerosystems. He was a hard worker and regarded as indispensable by fellow coworkers, who he had close relationships with. Cody loved his family, his garden, his community. He loved and appreciated his neighbors, and they him, with no bounds; a sucker for a stray animal and a bigger heart than he ever would admit to. Stray friends his boys brought home found a second father at the Crawford house, someone who would always slip out to check on the car if a noise was mentioned, made sure they were fed, all of their problems were heard out and every single accomplishment was celebrated. Cody was a caring son, brother, husband, father, mentor and friend, the gap he leaves behind in our lives is louder than even his laughter was. He will be deeply, wholly, and forever missed. Cody is survived by his mother, Bonnie; his wife, Candy; his sons, Cory (Shannon), Conner, Caleb (Charlotte).Memorials have been established with: Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. The kindest man. Cody always had a smile on his face and never a negative attitude. I am blessed for knowing him.

  2. I didn’t know him very long, but I know he was a good man. I remember how easy he was to talk to and what a great smile!

  3. I was Cody’s Middle School principal at Altoona Midway, two memories stand out among many, he was as fine a young man that I ever had in school and he always had a mile wide smile. My condolences to all his family and friends, may his soul rest in peace.

  4. Cody was one of a kind! I can picture hos smile and laugh, especially when he and Walt were together. Heaven is going to rock since they are both up there. Fly high my friend!
