Conni Teter

February 26, 1957 ~ November 12, 2024
Conni Teter, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on November 12, 2024, from a sudden illness. Born on February 26, 1957, in California to Charles and Barbara Standley (Elmore), both of whom preceded her in death. Conni grew up surrounded by love in Erie, Kansas, alongside her siblings: Terri Maffei of Wellington, KS, Tobe Schneider of Wellington, KS, and Jeffery (Natalie) Standley of Smithfield, VA. She is survived by her loving husband, Randall Teter, of Wichita, KS, and her cherished daughter, Monica Monroe, of Udall, KS, her aforementioned siblings, and her sister and brother in law Melody and Steve Carpenter, of Lamar, OK.
A graduate of Erie High School, Conni received a debate scholarship to attend Neosho County Community College. In 1976, she gained recognition as the Bicentennial Queen, affectionately earning the nickname "Bean Queen" during her participation in the Old Soldiers and Sailors Reunion pageant. Conni furthered her education at Kansas State University, graduating in 1980 with a degree in Marketing and Business.
Her career as an insurance agent with Farm Bureau spanned several decades, during which she was repeatedly recognized as a top-performing agent until her retirement in 2021. Conni was admired for her professionalism and the personal touch she brought to her work.
An avid reader and outdoor enthusiast, Conni found joy in spending time with Randy on their farm in Norwich and enjoying camping adventures in Colorado. Recently, she took up pickleball, embracing the fun and camaraderie of the sport. Furthermore, she shared her passion for golf, competing in numerous tournaments with her aunt, Phyllis Wheat, of Wichita, KS. Notably, on September 26th, she celebrated a remarkable milestone by hitting her first hole-in-one at Tallgrass Country Club while preparing for an upcoming tournament.
Conni will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and the love she radiated to those around her. She leaves a lasting legacy through the memories made with her family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary, on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 1:30 pm, where those she touched can come together to honor her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lord’s Diner, 520 North Broadway, Wichita, KS 67214 in Conni’s name, reflecting her generous spirit and love for her community.

She was a very sweet person. My husband and I met her through pickleball @ the west YMCA…. Sad to hear of her passing.
Our prayers go out to the family….
I’m so sorry for your loss. Conni was a great golf mentor when I was learning the game at Rolling Hills County Club several years ago. I loved her smile and her infectious laugh. She will be missed by many. God Bless her family and everyone who graced her. Kimberly Eaton

prayer for a sister
WHY GOD CREATED
Sisters
God created sisters
to share from earliest years
The happy times, the trying times, the dreams, the plans, the fears.
He made them for the crazy fun of laughing loud and long
But also to be there to help when things are going wrong.
He made them for a bond of love and warmth that never ends-
God created sisters as very special friends.
→I’m just one year younger than my sister Conni. She always had to put with having her little sister tagging along behind her when we were growing up. And believe me, she greatly resented it., especially due high school. But I just worshipped her. She was well liked, beautiful, and smart; so strong and independent as well. She would try her damn best to loose me. But a few years after we had both finished college, l was visiting her at her Wichita home and we discovered just how much we actually liked each other. She became not only my sister but a true confidant and friend. It was a truly monumental moment for us that completely changed our relationship for the rest of our lives. I will miss her silliness, her sense of humor, and her love. Conni, I will love you forever, my sister, my friend. ♥️
