Connie Sue Schmidt, 63, Retired Accountant, died Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Viewing will be from 5:00 - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Life Church East Wichita. Graveside Service will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Bertie Lou Hayden; sister, Denise Hayden. Survived by her husband, James B. Schmidt; daughter, Megan Schmidt, both of Bel Aire. A memorial has been established with: Bel Aire Lions Club, c/o Jackie O’Neal, 4967 N. Hillcrest, Bel Aire, KS 67220.

To James and Megan I am so sorry for your loss. Connie is a wonderful classy lady with a beautiful smile. So cool to hang out with when the girls were playing basketball. Here smile made you smile.
Connie was a good neighbor who will be missed. She always had a cheerful smile that made the day brighter. My sincere sympathy to James and Megan for their great loss.
James & Megan- I and my sister, Debra, recently visited with Connie at our Dad’s funeral, Herman Fischer, on September 12. Leo & Bertie just lived to the west of us. The family was very good friends and neighbors of ours with our parents attending school together. My sister was close in age to Connie and Denise. We have many fond memories of growing up together, all the church and school activities. We so appreciated her coming to Dad’s funeral and are so glad we were able to visit with her.
