Consuelo “Connie” Aguirre Valadez, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away at home on September 11, 2025. Born to Francisco and Benedicta (Elena) Aguirre on October 11, 1930, in Wichita, KS, Consuelo was a lady in every sense of the word. She perfectly embodied the qualities of a lady, acting with grace, dignity, kindness and professionalism in every way. She graduated from East High School in 1948 and then entered the workforce as a modern working woman, and later attended Wichita State University. She started her career as a secretary and rose to leadership and management positions at some of Wichita’s finest organizations including Swiss Chalet Salad Dressings, Pizza Hut Inc. and Pepsico Food Systems and McConnell Air Force Base. In 1957 she married the love of her life, Louis Valadez, and immediately started a family of two sons and two daughters. Wife and Mother were her most cherished roles but Consuelo was also a devoted Catholic, and lover of the Arts, volunteering at the Wichita Art Museum as a docent, and as regular attendee of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, the Kechi Playhouse and every other production she could find.

Consuelo is survived by her husband and love of her life, Louis R. Valadez; her sons, John L. (Sherri) and Gary A. (Sheri) Valadez; her daughters, Sonya A. (Anthony) Newry, and Elena M. (Anthony) Ramos; her beloved grandchildren, Brandi L. Newry, Austin A. (Liliana) Newry, Claire M. (Luke) Wehmeier, Olivia P. Valadez, and Christian Maxmillian (Sierra) Valadez; her great-grandchildren, Sujey G., Alina S., Victor A., Tomas A., and Gianna S. Newry, and Aniyah, Christian Maxmillian Jr., Ezra, and Baby Boy Valadez due later this year. She is also survived by her little brother, Ramon “Raymond” (wife, Retha) Aguirre; and many beloved nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Benedicta “Elena” Aguirre; and her brothers, Manuel, Margarito and Conrado.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Tia Chelo’s life was a testament to beauty, kindness, and grace. She touched the hearts of everyone who knew her with her gentle spirit, warm smile, and unwavering compassion.

Her elegance was not just in her appearance, but in the way she carried herself—with dignity, generosity, and love. She had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued, and her presence brought comfort and joy to family gatherings and quiet moments alike.

Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in the lives she enriched and the memories we hold dear. We will forever remember her as a radiant soul who made the world a better place simply by being in it.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

    • I knew Connie when I taught and coached with Louie. What a beautiful person. So elegant and a “rock” for her family
