Craig Robert Sellens

September 15, 1967 ~ November 8, 2024
Craig Robert Sellens, 57, of Wichita, KS was born September 15, 1967, and passed away Friday, November 8, 2024, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born to Robert Sellens and Diane Langhofer in Russell, KS. He graduated with the class of 1986 from Russell and went on to Fort Hays State University to obtain a degree in communications in December 1990.
Craig moved to Wichita in March 1991 and started his first job out of college at Copeland International Trucks as a parts salesman. He continued working at the same company for over 30 years through-out the several company acquisitions and retired from Rush Truck Centers in September 2024.
It was at Copeland that he met his future wife Michelle Wade, and they were married on April 1, 1995, in Wellington, KS. Together they had two daughters, Courtney Alexis Sellens and Lauryn Ashleigh Sellens.
Craig loved the Dallas Cowboys football team, specifically Roger Staubach (#12) and watched (and yelled) at every game he could. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races with Dale Earnhardt (#3) being his favorite driver. Back in the day he looked forward to opening day of pheasant hunting with his Dad in Russell and at Thanksgiving you could always find him in the kitchen with this Mom - he loved to cook with her!
Most importantly he loved being a dad to Courtney and Lauryn. He enjoyed boating and camping at the lake, playing cards, watching movies, and four-wheeling & shooting guns in Argonia. He loved watching the girls as they played high school sports at Maize South and at competitive cheer competitions. He was always up for an adventure and drove his family over 26 hours to visit his sister in Oregon. His family will miss all these moments with him.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Sellens; daughters, Courtney Sellens, Lauryn Sellens; mother, Diane Dykens; brothers, Kenny Sellens, Robbie Sellens, Tim Dykens, Mike Dykens; sisters, Cherina Sellens, Angel Hagen; parents-in-law, Larry and Valerie Wade; brother-in-law, Chris Wade and grandmother-in-law, Carol Pearce. He is preceded in death by his fathers, Robert Sellens and Arden Dykens; and grandparents, Loren and Dorothy Langhofer, and Don and Esther Sellens.
Visitation with family present will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, November 15th, 2024, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary in Wichita. A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, November 16th, 2024, at 11 AM at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with: Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 7901 W. 21st St., Wichita, KS 67205.
I wish your family peace through these difficult times.
With our deepest sympathy
Dwight & Carol Langhofer
I know there are no words to ease your pain.
Craig and I worked together over 30 years. We had lots of good laughs at work and some not so good customer “events”. As always football season was fun as we had Chiefs, Raiders, and Cowboy competition going on in the same department. Craig will be missed. Stan
We are thinking of all of you & all the memories that we have growing up with Craig. He will be missed very much. Scott & Marcie Reinhardt
Rip classmate you will be missed Craig very sad day for me prayers to the family see ya Saturday love ya Craig
As a co worker Craig was always up beat and willing to help find the right part. Gonna miss ya man.
I worked with Craig for over 10 years. We both had a streak of never missing a day of work until Covid came along. He brought us 33 years of valuable experience that cannot be replaced. Craig bragged about how successful his wife Michelle was, and he talked often of his daughters Courtney and Lauryn. He was extremely proud of them. This is so sad; Craig will be missed by all.
I have known Craig all his life, he was a great person & will be missed. My sympathy goes out to the entire family.
Our condolences, may Craig rest in peace.
