Dale F. Hecox
October 19, 1925 ~ March 14, 2006
Hecox, Dale F., 80, better known by family as “Papa”, completed this lifes journey on Tuesday, March 14, 2006. Memorial service, 11:00 A.M., Saturday, Central Church of Christ. Dale was born on October 19, 1925 in Beloit, Wisconsin, moving to Wichita at the young age of 13 to live with his aunt and uncle, Dr. Charles and Edna Barr. He attended North High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II just prior to his graduation, serving four years. He then returned to Wichita and began a career in the heating and air conditioning business which led him and his family to move to Bermuda in 1965 where he served as manager of Bermuda Air Conditioning. Seven years later he and his family returned to Wichita where he became a successful real estate investor and business owner. He will be best remembered for his sense of humor and for his spirit of generosity. Preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Mary Hecox; sisters, Mary Frances Chaney and Nell Davis; brother, Jake. He is survived by his loving wife, Norma, of whom he married in 1951; daughter, Kathy (Ed) Faries of Bermuda; son, Stephen of Wichita; daughter, Pamela (Duane) Ball of Wichita; son, Greg of Wichita; brothers, Frances (Lee) of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Sam (Sharon) of Atlanta, GA, Bob (Phyllis) of Rockford, IL; sisters, Myrna (Dale) Spiedel of Benton, IA, Bertha (Bruce) King of New London, IA; grandchildren, Garrett and Jenny Faries of Bermuda, Chris, Sarah, and Tom Hecox, Josh and Zach Ball, Hannah Hecox, all of Wichita. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Following the service, the family invites you to a reception at the church to celebrate Dales life. Downing and Lahey Mortuary West.
