Dale T. Collins

Collins, Dale Tracy, 86, aircraft engineer, died Thursday, March 14, 2013. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 5:00 P.M., Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 P.M., Monday, March 18, 2013, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He was born June 28, 1926 in Junction City, Kansas to Alverda P. Tracy Collins and Laurence E. Collins. He graduated from Junction City High School, then served in the U.S. Army. In 1952 he graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in engineering. On April 13, 1952 he married Dolores Rush. The family moved to Wichita in 1953 where Dale worked for Beech, Cessna, and Boeing, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and was proud to be a twenty gallon Red Cross blood donor. He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores in 1994; brothers, L. Keith and Dean Collins; sister, E.I. Field; and his parents. Surviving are: daughters, D. Cheryl Collins (G.W. Clift), Manhattan, KS and Jayne Rudd, Wichita; grandchildren, John Clift, Megan Redelman, Andrew Storey, Steve Rudd (Alicia), Courtney Rudd, Grant Rudd, Todd Enyeart; great-grandchildren, Jayda Redelman, Chris Rudd (Kallie), Mat Rudd, Megan Lowe (Josh), Chase Herbst, Erin Thompson, Jacob Rudd; and great-great-grandchildren, Kailey Lowe, Emmett Lowe, and Bentley Herbst. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with: Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 N. Greenwich Rd., Wichita, KS 67206; Geary County Historical Society, 530 N. Adams St., Junction City, KS 66441.
