Dan Joseph Waller, 68, passed away peacefully at home in Andover, KS on May 6, 2020. Dan was born in Wichita, KS on August 5, 1951 to parents Jake and Millie Waller. He graduated from East High as a 4-year letterman in golf then attended Wichita State University on a golf scholarship. He began his career in construction in 1977 and through hard work and dedication, enjoyed a successful career of 35 years as Partner and V.P. of Conco Construction. Dan and his wife Marilyn shared 36 years together raising a blended family. Some of “Pops’” best family memories were from Grand Lake, OK boating, skiing, fishing, laughing and taking his grandkids on trips to Donut Palace. He especially loved large family gatherings (known as “Walleramas”) that included nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was known for his “Dan’s Famous” recipes, his ability to solve problems and fix anything with “the blade,” his quirky habits and his love for his four-legged friends. Dan had an amazing ability to connect with people and nurture lasting friendships, many of which were made on the golf course. He loved both the sport and the camaraderie of the game. He played in countless charitable tournaments, worked tirelessly to support the WSU golf team, and enjoyed weekly rounds with his buddies. His beautiful golf swing was the envy of many. Dan also enjoyed hunting and fishing with lifelong friends. These “adventures” provided colorful material for his well-known stories. He was known for his witticisms and the nicknames he affectionately gave to his close friends. Dan had a true heart for mentorship and sharing his professional knowledge with great humility and integrity. He served on multiple boards throughout his career, including SASO, the Chamber of Commerce, United Cerebral Palsy, and Wichita Children’s Home. He was currently serving on Kansas Humane Society and the UMB Bank board. Considering this community involvement, his long career in construction, and his favorite activities, it’s no surprise that he ran into friends everywhere he went. Dan’s love for friends and family is truly immeasurable. His warm and kind spirit, sense of humor, and generosity will live on in those who love him: wife Marilyn, his children Erin (Mark) Schneider, Matt Waller, Megan (Ashish) Sharma, Bethney Ralston (Marek Balazs), his beloved grandchildren Matthew, Evan, Jillian and Sofia Schneider, Jackson Sutherland, and Maya Sharma, his sister Judy (Bill) Hess, his brothers, Phil Waller, and Mike (Teana) Waller, many nieces and nephews, and of course, his precious dog, Pearl. A special thanks to the Cancer Center of Kansas’ doctors, nurses and staff for their loving care. A celebration of a great life well-lived will be from 2:00 - 5:00 pm, Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Crestview Country Club, 1000 N. 127th St. E., Wichita, KS 67206. Tributes will be shared at 3:00 pm. If you would like to honor Dan’s memory, please consider a donation to Kansas Humane Society Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. 3. Marilyn, It saddened me to hear the news about Danny’s passing. My prayers are with you and your family. Thanks for the nice talk we had on Thursday morning. It brought back so many great memories of Danny over the last 50+ years of knowing him. He fought a great fight and now is at peace by the side of his Mom and Dad and lots and lots of friends in heaven. I bet he and Ed Bocovich are teeing it up today. Danny, driving the cart loaded with their clubs and Ed, driving the cart with the cooler on the back. Danny, please make sure that Pete Hainline has the greens ready for when I join you someday on the other side. GO WUSHOCKS. Rest in Peace. CHAS

  4. Danny was one of the best men I’ve ever know. A truly wonderful friend to have. Love ya Dan’l J! Turtle

  5. Please receive Donapetry’s condolences. Stay all strong in this hard moment. Kiss from France

  6. Danny Boy was one of kind. I knew him through golfing circles originally and did business with him at Conco Construction. Sometime in the late 1990’s we put a group together to play in the Wichita Children’s Home annual golf tournament Fore The Kids. George Fahnestock, Bob Hughey, Danny and myself were the team. We called ourselves The Amigos. George left the group 10 years ago and now Danny. The Amigos, that now includes Gary Austerman, had monthly breakfasts for many years. As many have said Danny’s smile always lite up the room. Marilyn, Erin and Matt, I offer my condolences and hold tight to your fond memories of Dan. Danny Boy always greeted me with a “hello Scotty P.” I will forever miss that greeting, that beautiful smile and a really great friend. RIP-DJP Scotty P.

  7. Dan was always a gentlemen know matter where you saw him. I knew Dan from construction as I worked for Simpson & Son Construction for a long time and would run into Dan at different things. He always had a big smile on his face and would always give you a hug. He was a good ambassador for the construction industry. He was always willing to help anyone that might have a problem with anything. He always talked about his family and you could tell he had a great love for them. Dan will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him. Prayers and good thoughts to his wife and children. May God Bless you all.

  8. Dan will always be forever in our family’s thoughts and prayers along with Millie & Jake. A very wonderful man that had an impact on my life.

  9. To Dan’s family, May our great and awesome God comfort you all. As a structural engineer in Wichita for 40 yrs, I had the privilege to work with Dan on many projects for most of his 35 years at Conco. Many good memories. Jim Jantz Firestone, Colorado

  10. Thoughts and prayers with Marilyn and family, Dan was a great friend and really enjoyed his friendship. He always called me “Marv” not sure why but I will miss his wit. RIP Dan Larry Krier

  11. On behalf of all of the staff at Kansas Humane Society, we are so sorry to hear about the passing of Dan. Thank you for sharing him with us for all of these years. I always loved seeing and talking to him about his dogs and golf game, and he was always willing to help us with anything that found more homes for animals. He made a huge impact and difference in our community. He will be greatly missed. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

  12. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Dan was an amazing man and I know he will be dearly missed. May your memories give you comfort during this difficult time. Much love, Jen Geis

  13. Danny was always a man that I looked up to all of my life. From the young years on Yale street where I remember meeting Dan and Jarlo, his Golden Retriever to when I was given a gift to talk with him at the Cancer center in January where I was with my grandfather for his Cancer appointments. From the first meeting, Danny and I developed a unique friendship and shared some of the same outdoor interests. Although I am the son of one of his life long best friends, he never treated me like that. Thank you Dan and let “Lake Life” live on forever! RIP good sir…

  14. My deepest sympathy and condolences to Dan’s family. I know he loved you all very much. I enjoyed my time with Dan. Pet Pearl for me.

  15. Thanks for some fun memories through the years Dan, you are already missed by many!!
