Daniel D. Hoch, 77, Wichita, Kansas, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025. Dan was born August 14, 1947 to Clarence and Laura (Booth) Hoch. After graduating from West Virginia Wesleyan College, he worked for a few years as an art teacher in Vermont before training as an airplane mechanic in Teterboro, New Jersey. He was hired on with Cessna in Wichita, working on the Citation. Dan held a private pilot's license. Part of the job allowed him to take planes down the runway. It was in Wichita where he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Maddox, in a Sunday School class at First United Methodist Church. Dan and Beth were married there on March 20, 1982. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hoch of Wichita; bothers-in-laws, Micheal (Michele) Maddox of Mulvane, KS, Martin (Susan) Maddox of Wichita, KS; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Those who have passed before and welcome him to Heaven are his parents; brother, Lawrence "Larry" Hoch; and brothers-in-law, David Twombley, Charles Maddox, and Jerry Ramona. A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, May 9, 2025, at First United Methodist Church, 330 N. Broadway St., Wichita, KS. Burial will follow at Wichita Chapel Memorial Gardens, Wichita, KS. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 330 N Broadway St., Wichita, KS 67202 or National Multiple Sclerosis Society Mid America Chapter. Services in care of Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Services will be live streamed through the church's YouTube page. You may view it by clicking on the "Watch Now" button below.
