It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David Allen Dunlap, 91, on Sunday, December 15, 2024. David was a beloved husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa who touched the lives of many with his kindness, wisdom and unwavering love. Born on November 10, 1933, in Hope, KS, he was the son of George and Sophia (Stroda) Dunlap. David devoted his life to his family and Boeing as a Product Support Manager for 42 years earning the respect of his colleagues and friends alike. David was a devoted husband to Grace with whom he shared 47 years of marriage. He was a proud father to Susie (Jay) Taylor, Jan (Doug) Stuhlsatz, Deborah (Mark) Gorges, Rhonda Thorpe Thomas (deceased), and Tammie (David) Pepin. And a cherished Grandpa to Danielle and Taylor Gibson, Sarah (Tony) Raper, Amanda, Ethan and Reid Stuhlsatz, Stacy (Jeff) McCollum, Robert Gorges, Wesley (Paige) Gorges, Kim (Stephen) Rhinehart, and Kristy (Jason) Gooch; and his great-grandkids, Brooke and George, Carter, Ryan, and Emma, Eli, Lillie. He had a great sense of humor and loved football, basketball, talking politics and farming. However, his favorite thing to do was spend time with his grandkids. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and work ethic that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Preceded in death by brothers, George A. Dunlap and Robert L. Dunlap; sisters, Mary Ann Dunlap and Kathleen Kay Dunlap. He will be missed by many. May he rest in peace. Rosary to honor David will be held on December 18, 6 pm at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 19, 10 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Victory in the Valley, 3755 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67218 in honor of his deceased wife, Grace; and Catholic Charities Harbor House, 437 N. Topeka St., Wichita, KS 67202 in honor of his deceased daughter Rhonda Thorpe Thomas.
