Denise R. Gurley

Denise R. Gurley, 65, passed August 14, 2022. Denise was born in Oswego, KS on July 16, 1957. During her delivery she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck, causing some loss of oxygen to the brain. She was also a brittle diabetic. Yet with these challenges she lived with an even disposition, learning to love the Lord and depend on him. Denise loved being a part of the choir at First Evangelical Free Church for twenty years. She traveled to New York to sing with the choir in Carnegie Hall, which she was very proud of. She also loved her big white cat named Mittens. At the Regent she was accepted and felt loved and cared for. The Interim nursing staff was a huge blessing over the years in helping her manage her diabetes. Denise’s parents and her brother, David, precede her in death. She is survived by her brother, Keith Gurley, and sister, Diana Gurley. Memorial Service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 27, 2022, at First Evangelical Free Church, 1825 N. Woodlawn, Wichita, KS 67208. A memorial has been established with the church. Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
