Uncle Dennis was a very special person in my life. He taught so much and I have so many great memories. From family history to remolding the farm house. I will forever be grateful. You are truly missed. I love you!!
Growing up away from Kansas meant that I only had a few opportunities to be around the McCallum side of the family. My memories of Dennis were from the McCallum family reunion’s (one especially when my great uncle Neil and Aunt Gene were still alive) that I was able to attend. It was the closest I’d ever come to hearing childhood stories about my grandfather Keith. He was always so kind to me and had a sneaky sense of humor! You’ll experience it from watching the video I posted. I am grateful to have known him and offer my sincere condolences to Cheryl and their children!
You and your family were so welcoming when I flew into KS to visit your daughter so many years ago. I hope you’re at rest now!
He is missed by many…
I met Dennis thru water aerobics at the “Y” about 10 years ago. He was always there, in the center of the pool on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, unless he was fishing with a longtime buddy in Minnesota, or doctor’s appointment. We shared stories of growing up, our family, and places we traveled, his stories were much more interesting. I know he loved his wife, his daughters, and his granddaughters. He was proud father and grandpa. Perhaps this saying by Dr Suess, with a couple of words changed will help, “Don’t cry because He is gone, Smile because He was here”…… SallyJJ
The biggest thing I remember about Dennis is he was a very good baseball pitcher for Elmdale High School. We at Americus played them several times and he was always tough on us. He always reminded me that he struck me out a few times, and he was right. Always looked forward to reminiscing baseball with him at the banquet. He will certainly be missed.
