Diane L Roberts

July 29, 1949 ~ June 6, 2015
Roberts, Diane Louise, 65, entered eternal life June 6, 2015, while surrounded by her loving family and special friends. Despite a two-year battle with ALS, her spirit and faith remained strong and she continued to put others ahead of herself, even at the very end. Diane was born July 29, 1949 in Pawhuska, OK to John P. and Shirley (Mallams) Ellis. She graduated from Enid High School in 1967 and was united in marriage to Donald Roberts in 1969 in Woodward, OK. He survives of the home. Diane worked in the secretarial and human resources fields until she decided to further her education. She attended Butler Community College and earned an Associates degree in Nursing. Her heart was in hospice care and she devoted herself to helping patients transition and assisting families with the loss of loved ones. Her true love was her grandchildren and “Nanny” always had snacks ready for them, loved having sleepovers and helping the kids decorate Jesus birthday cake each Christmas. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Don, her two children, Amy (Cory) Wilgers, Seth (Corri) Roberts, seven grandchildren: Madeline, Zach, Alex, Ryan, Aaron, Logan and a new baby due in December. Her mother, Shirley Ellis, of Enid, OK, three sisters: Charlotte Bush of Kingwood, TX, Paula (Bobby) Mann of Enid, OK and Michele (Mike) Healy of Stillwater, OK, as well as numerous extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, John Ellis. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, June 11 at 7:00 p.m. and her Funeral Mass will be on Friday at 10:30 a.m., both at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Schulte, KS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Dianes grandchildren to either St. Peter Catholic School, 11000 Southwest Boulevard, Wichita, KS 67215 or Magdalen Catholic School, 2221 N. 127th Street East, Wichita, KS 67226. Though we will miss her greatly, we know she is walking and talking again with loved ones in Heaven. Downing Lahey Mortuary West.
