Diane Marie (Stroot) Ternes, 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family on Sunday, March 1, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Virginia Stroot. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle, and son-in-love Jason Allen; her son, Brian Ternes; and her cherished granddaughter, Jessa Allen.

Diane had a 30+ year career in insurance before her retirement and was known for her kindness, steadfast faith, and the way she made everyone feel welcome with her beautiful smile. She never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her. She deeply enjoyed spending time with her family, spearheading vacations, faithfully attending all games, performances, and milestones. She found joy in Zumba classes, line dancing, and as a devoted animal lover. Diane also recently found a love for country life, driving the CanAm in the pasture, wearing her muck boots, feeding cattle and checking fence.

  6. I had the good fortune to meet Diane through a mutual friend, Hazel. We were in zumba class together along with another friend of Hazel’s. Diane was so warm and welcoming to me. Always smiling and enthusiastic as I tried to learn the steps. I appreciated that. I could tell she would be a good friend to have. Diane also cared about animals and that is what brought us in contact again through Hazel. Diane had been caring for a miniature doxie that a friend of hers wanted to rehome. Hazel asked if we might be interested. We were and Diane and Hazel brought our Lilly to our home. Lilly was around 3 at the time and we loved her for 13 years and my husband and I still think of Lilly often. Lilly brought so much to each of our lives. And all of that was because of Diane and her love and concern for animals. We can’t thank her enough. Diane was a special person and made the best of any situation. I wish she didn’t have to have gone through cancer but I know she did her best in dealing with it. She is a treasure, loving mother, and friend. God bless her family at this time and always. Thank you Diane for your friendship, rest in peace. Best wishes to her family. Sincerely, Janice Grimm

  7. Dear Michelle, Brian, Jason, and Jessa- I am sorry for your loss. Your family is in my prayers. I’ll remember Diane as always having that beautiful smile, happy, animated, and fun-loving. She was so tough and strong in her faith in spite of going through a lot, she was never a complainer. She was a proud and dedicated daughter, mother and grandmother. I’m grateful for all the fun memories she brought as a girl scout troop leader. Praying our blessed mother wraps you in her mantle of peace at this difficult time.

  8. So very sorry to hear of Diane’s passing. She was a beautiful person. Sending thoughts and prayers!

  9. Michelle– I’m thinking of you and your family. Your mom was one tough gal and she prevailed through so much in the time I was blessed to know her. May you and your family find peace.
