Diane Suddeth

April 24, 1942 ~ December 26, 2024
Diane Suddeth, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on December 26, 2024.
Diane was a Girl Scout leader for eight years, a soccer mom, dance driver, school outing supporter, and everything in between. She was lucky enough to spend her time at home in Wichita when Jon and Tammy were young. When the family moved to Kansas City, Diane began working at JCPenney’s, where she enjoyed a nearly 25-year career and retired as a drapery specialist.
She and Roger shared 49 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in January 2017. Together, they built a life full of love and adventure, living in Edmond, OK, and Denton, TX, before returning to Wichita to officially retire. They traveled extensively, visiting Italy, Alaska, and most of the United States, but somehow always found themselves drawn back to Branson, MO. They loved shopping there, attending shows, and making Holiday concerts an annual tradition.
Diane was a proud member of the Wichita Chapter of the Lions Club, where she gave back to her community. She also loved playing bridge and bunko with friends, but most of all, she loved to shop! Diane was a wonderful cook and enjoyed experimenting with new recipes she’d clip from magazines, often encouraging Jon and Tammy to try something new. Her creativity extended to her love of sewing and arts and crafts, making her home and her life uniquely beautiful.
For the past six years, Diane lived at Oxford Grand, where her joy and warmth touched everyone. In her final days, nurses and staff stopped by to tell the family that she was one of their favorite residents-always with a smile on her face and joy in her heart.
Diane is survived by her son, Jon Suddeth, and his family-Michelle, Braeden, Brynn, and Jace-and her daughter, Tammy Suddeth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Suddeth; her parents, William and Bernice Boldt of Wichita; and her granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Suddeth.
Her memory will be honored with a rosary will be at 9:30 am and Funeral Mass at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 2, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Northwest Wichita Lions Club, c/o Sandra Childs, 1008 North Firefly Circle, Wichita, Kansas 67235 in Diane’s honor.
Diane’s loving spirit, warm smile, and devotion to her family and friends will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew her.
Services in care of Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.
In a time long ago and far away, two families were friends. Each family with an older son and a younger daughter. The glue to these families was MOM. Diane was one of the moms. Her bright smile, ability to look mean but never be mean and to love her family was only matched by my Sandy. I hope the world is full of Diane’s and Sandys, children would become responsible and loving adults and husbands would always be well fed and happy.
Heaven will be a better place because Diane is there.
