Dianne Cecilia Schneider

Dianne Cecilia Schneider (née Dix) was born on June 4, 1944, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Ethel Klapperich and Joseph Dix. She spent her early years in Turton and Clark, South Dakota, before moving with her family to Wichita, Kansas, in 1954.

A lifelong lover of reading and learning, Dianne possessed a deep curiosity about people, places, and the world beyond her own. She graduated from Saint Mary’s High School in 1962 and from Wichita Business College in 1963. She devoted many years to her work in data entry and healthcare billing, bringing care, steadiness, and integrity to her profession.

On October 23, 1965, she married Joseph Daniel (JD) Schneider at Blessed Sacrament Church. Together they raised four children. Of all her accomplishments, Dianne was most proud of her greatest legacy—her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love for them was deep, ferocious, and unending, and they bear living testimony to the truth of the adage: “A mother holds her children’s hands for a while, their hearts forever.”

Dianne was a faithful Catholic throughout her life. Her trust in God and devotion to the Church sustained her through every season. In the words of St. Paul, her life reflects a faith well lived: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).

She was preceded into heaven by her parents; her brothers Joseph, Richard, Edward, Robert, Paul, and Earl Dix; and her sisters Julia Edwards, Gwen Shunk, and Donna Kensworth.

She is survived by her brother Ferdinand Dix; her sisters Yvonne Schippers and Rose Pepperd; her former husband JD Schneider; her daughters Jacie (John) Crawford and June Schneider; her sons Duane (Jamie) and Jeffrey Schneider; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

As we commend Dianne to the mercy of God and pray for the repose of her soul, her family asks that she be remembered in the words of an Irish blessing that “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.”

Rosary will be 11:00 am, Funeral Mass will be 11:30 am, Friday, February 27, 2026, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
