Don Alan Caywood, 76, retired mechanical engineer, died Saturday, September 23, 2023. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Viewing will be at 9:15 am with Funeral Service at 10:00 am, both on Friday, September 29, 2023, at College Hill United Methodist Church. Graveside service will immediately follow at Towanda Cemetery, Towanda KS. Don was one of the friendliest, most energetic people you will ever encounter in life. His God-given gift was that of a caregiver, especially of his son, Kenneth, who preceded him in death. Don and Donna shared the love of family time, spending time with their former exchange students, Tobi and Lena, travel, golf, scuba diving, and their fur babies, Emma and Buddy. Preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Dulcie Caywood; son, Kenneth Caywood. Survived by his wife, Donna Caywood; sons, Caysey Caywood, John (Ginger) Dacus; daughter, Lori (Louis) Harmer; grandchildren, Tara, Abby, Kian, Luna; sister, Connie Wagner; brother, Jay (Sharon) Caywood; brother-in-law, Ronald (Cynthia) Schroth; sisters-in-law, Janice Voges, Marilyn Livesay. Memorials have been established with: College Hill United Methodist Church Youth & Children Ministries, 2930 E. 1st St. N., Wichita, KS 67214 or Sedgwick County Zoo, 5555 W. Zoo Blvd., Wichita, KS 67212. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.

Don will be truly missed. He and Donna was there for me and helped me out in very hard time of my life. For that I am very grateful. Don was always there to greet you with a big smile and a hug. He was always willing to jump in and help at times of need. I will miss that smile and hug. RIP now my brother.
